Advertisement:Toon struck (for Vathos)

I know NOTHING about this game but i wont let that stop me advertising it.
According to a very good friend of mine its all good and he has this to say:

"My favourite ever game Toonstruck. The creators of the game are making number 2 but in order to do so they need "tremendous fan support" and they need this petition fulfilled. "

apparently they want part two finished...y'know...sometime

link here:

so if you have 5 mins to spare, throw them a bone.

and if you wanna actually PLAY the game first:

Software for free: Avast! anti virus Home Edition

As you all know i'm not one to pay for anything when i dont have to. Some may call this being cheap, personally i like to call it frugal and sensible.
As freelancer i dont want to have my computer at risk but on that same note i simply dont have the free cash to throw in for frankly awful anti viral solutions such as Norton or McAffee, at between £30-£50 ($56-$96 US) a year for software that slows down my computer and laptop to a crawl and uses up a significant amount of my processor resources while offering little to no real protection to my work.

Then I was directed to avast! by a fellow freelancer as a totally free and effective anti virus that would protect my computer wile taking almost none of my run time. The system updates from the same viral database as both McAffee and Norton on a bi-weekly basis and thus offering not only similar viral control but also updating on a more regular basis.

Now I should say a few words on the system interface, namely that it sucks the big one and looks like it belongs on windows 98 and takes a goddamn age to scan through your files, if you happen to have a hard drive bigger than 60-90GB and if you have a 1TB drive or more in your system then you may well have to give it overnight once a month in order to do a full scan and clean up.

Regardless it is an efficient and ridiculously simple to use system offering professional level protection from its normal Home Edition that will run on ANY system, even happily protecting my crappy little netbook. Remember you do not pay of your protection EVER but should you still feel a little unsafe or simply have too much money you can always purchase the professional edition and get the updated interface and access to some really good system retrieval tools and firewall settings for you work networks.

All in all its a great deal and if the interface were a little better it would have a flawless score but as it stands:

97% stonking great and well worth the download.

Ok look im not a bad guy and i really REALLY dont want to be raked over the coals but considering you have to still have to pay for your CD key in order to play the whole game i cant see what the difference between downloading the full WoTLK (US) version and downloading the free trial version other than file size...

...seriously though this is for all my comrades over on a "certain" podcast and US guild that for blatantly obvious reasons i wont name here for fear that i would sully there good name and guild reputation.

Freebies: MMO's for all

LINK:
http://fiesta.outspark.com/

Lets start out with one of the best Freebies out there at the moment in the form of Fiesta.
this is a deceptively deep somewhat cartoon/manga style MMO with more that a slight nod to the styling of Dragonball Z & Blue Dragon and other eastern animation.
The basic needs in terms of processing power and RAM of the game are on par with World of Warcraft and its basic interface take most of its nods from this hugely popular game.

Leveling and progression are on a relatively easy learning curve and the community is lively and vibrant with a fairly welcoming attitude to new gamers. More than worth the download and occasional laggy gameplay and login.

playability: 7/10
graphics: 7/10
community: 8/10

LINK:
http://en.maplestory.nexoneu.com/Maple.aspx?PART=/Main

Ok onto Maple story, if you dont know what this is by now you have no good reason being on the internet. If however i must describe this anime come to life MMO i would call it an early Zelda brought to the world of MMO's if Nintendo had a one night fling with the Mistwalker team and had raised there bastard son as a MMORPG.
All the classic genre specific mobs and classes are there and offers little in the way of surprises in any way to a seasoned RPG player. Worth the download if only for the music and dawwww.

playability: 5/10
graphics: 7/10
community: 6/10

And now the big boy of the free MMO world. SRO has been established as one of the most adult and mature free MMORPG's of the last five years. Set in the 18th century almost entirely on the Chinese silk road you take one of several traditional roles after achieving the profession level requirements, this means you start off as a generic all rounder capable of pretty much anything you choose. Unlike most other free games SRO has a unique in game monetary system in the form of both traditional money and SILK. Silk is a unique way to negate gold farmers destroying the in game economy as the company itself submits to "gold buying" in an official capacity. By selling silk you gain the ability to acquire uniquely powerful items in game that even the most frantic of gold farmers would be hard pressed to find and impossible to sell on. All in game trade is done by the players themselves, at a set level you gain the ability to set up a stall anywhere you wish and sell your goods at whatever price you wish this results in a unique player based economic twist that can see some real bargains for smart shoppers.

How To: Scan your LAN

How To Detect Wardrivers Windows Xp - Funny home videos are a click away

Ah the joy of Wi-Fi, there realy is nothing quite like sitting your ass down on a comfy chair or in your bed/garden/toilet with a laptop and know that you can browse the wonderful world of the interweb and its various insanities without having to drag a wire around after you. But sadly this freedom comes at a surprising bandwidth cost even on what we believe is the most secure connection.

Wi-Fi sniffers and code breakers are becoming more and more popular among the "cheaper" asshats in the general population and those few idiots that believe that because they CAN do something then they MUST do it. This little programme is pretty much a must have if you have a Wi-Fi network and can help you keep ahead of the game by keeping a very close eye on exactly who's on your network.

so head to: http://www.lookatlan.com/ and hit the download section ASAP

Daily Blog: Rising Force Set Free

As I'm as cheap as hell and am loath to pay for anything i can get on the cheap or even better if its free I'm always on the look out for announcements like this.
Last week the much underrated MMORPG Rising Force: Online and its various expansions was switched from "pay to play" to "free to play" meaning that this CodeMasters epic can now be downloaded and played without the unfortunate need to splash out for a monthly fee.

How this works is similar to most of the emulator community's servers basically allowing you to play the basic game for free while offering special items to those of us wiling to cough up a little hard earned currency to empower there avatar with some truly over powered and shiny items.
Not only does this allow for a reasonable cost efficient influx of cash to keep the servers running and pay for bandwidth but means with such a high turnover of new players that the odds of a high income for very little work are more than reasonable.

So now that your interested make your way to www.rf-onlinegame.com and spend a few hours downloading the game then make an account, now while your doing that read this:

RF: online

The game is centered on the conflict between 3 races (descendants of the now extinct human race) in their bid to control precious resources, and their desire to advance their respective agendas through any means necessary. There are three different races:

  • Accretia - A race of cyborgs who were forced to turn to artificial bodies due to the harsh environment on their home planet. Now they have forsaken flesh in their pursuit of perfection and they scorn every flesh being in the universe. Their metallic bodies are the toughest in the game and their technology is the most superior but they have no access to magic. Reestablished as The Empire, Accretia entered the Novus conflict against both Cora and Bellato.
  • Bellato - Due to the intense gravity on their home planet, the Bellato are the smallest people. They are a race of inventors that are able to combine creative tools and weapons with the Light form of universal magic. The Bellato enter the war as the least physically capable and yet given their ingenuity they have the potential to become the strongest. Before they became the Bellato Union, however, they were the Bellato Empire, who seized control after the Cora civil war but were beaten by the Accretians. Under such sustained attacks they fell from power, yet they have bided their time until they can become a force to be reckoned with once again.
  • Cora - They are an ancient race that scorn technology. Highly spiritual and gifted with natural magical abilities, Corites regard themselves as the highest form of creation. Their magical arts are far more superior to that of which the Bellato practice. Their god is Decem, whom they believed had given Corites their powers as well as their mission to subjugate all other forms of life in his name and to rid the galaxy of technology. The Holy Alliance of Cora was thus born to carry out their crusade.

More details on this can be found on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rf_online

ok now get on the game and get playing, i mean after all its free, what have you got to loose!

Wow that some tasty free RAM!

Now as many of you know I'm something of a gamer...

...and as many more of you know I'm cheap...very cheap....I LOATH upgrading my computer its expensive and frustrating at the best of times and tends to lead to unfortunate cases of broken components, but even worse you sometimes have to compromise about space. Fortunately this funky little programme allows you to clean and optimise your RAM in a simple one click system.

To be honest i just finished re-uploading this for a guy i met earlier today in my home town and while I was on PSPCrazy adding this new link i though why not give access to all you lot too.

so be like me be cheap and free and download this little toy today before the Powers that be decide to kill it again.

Now a little word of warning certain firewalls *cough* Mcafee *cough* will see this as a PUG (potentially unwanted programme) basically ignore it, Macafee hates everybody.
