Its here its here its here!!! The sixth (and possibly final) game in the Halo series is going to public Beta testing at one minute past midnight tonight (00.01 GMT) here in the UK.
Joining Nobel team as a replacement after combat inflicted losses to the Covenant forces you take part in the truly epic and much toted fall of the earth colony world "Reach". Halo reach takes part essentially at the same moment as the opening scenes of the first Halo game (Halo: Combat evolved) in which the ship carrying the Master Chief breaks the blockade of incoming Covenant ships and makes a blind jump that leads him to the first Halo installation.
What Halo reach does is show us how the planet came to be under covenant attack and how Nobel team managed to get the cryogenically sealed Master chief out of enemy hands and up into orbit to the USNC ship Pillar of autumn so he can meet his date with destiny and save the whole damn galaxy.
The public Beta testing is for the prototype weapon and armor capability of the third generation Spartan super soldiers in player Vs Player combat as well as the testing for the newly modified elites and there 1st generation weapons and ships.
As you all know i'm not one to pay for anything when i dont have to. Some may call this being cheap, personally i like to call it frugal and sensible. As freelancer i dont want to have my computer at risk but on that same note i simply dont have the free cash to throw in for frankly awful anti viral solutions such as Norton or McAffee, at between £30-£50 ($56-$96 US) a year for software that slows down my computer and laptop to a crawl and uses up a significant amount of my processor resources while offering little to no real protection to my work.
Then I was directed to avast! by a fellow freelancer as a totally free and effective anti virus that would protect my computer wile taking almost none of my run time. The system updates from the same viral database as both McAffee and Norton on a bi-weekly basis and thus offering not only similar viral control but also updating on a more regular basis.
Now I should say a few words on the system interface, namely that it sucks the big one and looks like it belongs on windows 98 and takes a goddamn age to scan through your files, if you happen to have a hard drive bigger than 60-90GB and if you have a 1TB drive or more in your system then you may well have to give it overnight once a month in order to do a full scan and clean up.
Regardless it is an efficient and ridiculously simple to use system offering professional level protection from its normal Home Edition that will run on ANY system, even happily protecting my crappy little netbook. Remember you do not pay of your protection EVER but should you still feel a little unsafe or simply have too much money you can always purchase the professional edition and get the updated interface and access to some really good system retrieval tools and firewall settings for you work networks.
All in all its a great deal and if the interface were a little better it would have a flawless score but as it stands:
Due primarily to my mediafire account taking a dump and my computer following its sterling example i can only upload the greatest of teh Marvel zombies files...
...wait did i say greatest? why yes i did! This is the Marvel zombies Vs teh army of darkness. Thats a necromonicon a bomm stick a chainsaw and the biggest baddass of all time kicking back in a zombie world of super heros.
This year im bring the gift of the wonderful elseworlds title JLA: Created Equal. The story is about a Superman having kids...er...kinda...y'see hes the last man on earth...well the last fertile man on earth after a massive biological disaster renders anyone with a Y chromosome sterile and soon after dead thus ending humanity as we know it. Fortunately Kal-El's Kryptonian DNA is made of sterner stuff and after knocking up Lois offers his DNA to the women of earth in order to repopulate...
...now i wont spoil the twist and by extension the second story (which i also included) and ending of this tale but just imagine for a moment a world of super human kiddies with similar powers to Supe's himself and just what there teenage years are going to be like.
Now before you hit teh download i should warn you it will be first come first served as due to copyright laws and the fact that i dont want to have my ass sued im only offering up 10 downloads of this .rar for you all to squabble over.
Ok tis that time of year again folks and as you all know im cheap so for me its time to "make the thought count" and give away some freebies to my more ...unusual... friends.
Now im not saying this is a gift for just hippies and native Americans but i am saying that when i say ots the thought that counts in this case it will be more "the effort" that counts.
This is NOT an easy make but it is fairly quick and when decorated with a few feathers and beads (bought from any local craft shop)and a little creativity you can do something really personal for your friends remarkably quickly.
Now i should say, the video itself is of relievedly low quality but if you listen to the instructions it is quite clear what she is talking about and doing. With a little practice you can probibly knock out one of these in about 40 mins but for your first one i suggest you take an hour and take your time. Apart from that you can (with a little imagination) make something wonderful for yourself or others with minimal effort and financial outlay.
NOW if your feeling especially cheap this year combine a very small version of this project with a few feathers and pop it inside an origami box (see last weeks make) and a little ribbon and you have an all but free but quite expensive looking craft gift to give away, and remember that athough teh smaller dreamcatchers are a little more fiddly to make they are a lot quicker and can be made with very cheap craft thread and due to there small size mistakes in there manufacture can easily be overlooked.
Note: *if it looks terrible or if you screw up call it rustic design *use local (and most importantly free) materials to make it more authentic *clean all feathers in boiling water and place in an airing cupboard for 24 hours before use *light application of a rawhide strip thong to a small catcher can make it an amazing necklace *chicks dig handy craft, if you want to impress her add this as an extra to your REAL gift
Meet Maladin a Lv80 "TAUREN" paladin yep this is a live wow server not a hacked one and YES this is an unedited image shot just moments ago...
...so how can a race incapable of being a paladin (at least until the next expansion) roll this class to Lv80?
well....to be honest they cant and er nor can I and this is just a really cool graphical glitch available on the latest release of the WoW client. Heres how you do it
The WoW.com staff has confirmed it works, though the timing required is very precise. You need to be quick, but being too fast hitting one or the other is just as bad as being too slow. A few of us found that we had to slow down our fingers to do it properly, because "fast" to a hardcore FPS gamer is very different than "fast" to a casual MMO gamer. Click first, hit enter second. Not the other way around.
And there you have it...now be off with you, make yourself a Tauradin or a undead hunter or even a troll druid waaaaay before blizz let you in game.
Lets start out with one of the best Freebies out there at the moment in the form of Fiesta. this is a deceptively deep somewhat cartoon/manga style MMO with more that a slight nod to the styling of Dragonball Z & Blue Dragon and other eastern animation. The basic needs in terms of processing power and RAM of the game are on par with World of Warcraft and its basic interface take most of its nods from this hugely popular game.
Leveling and progression are on a relatively easy learning curve and the community is lively and vibrant with a fairly welcoming attitude to new gamers. More than worth the download and occasional laggy gameplay and login.
Ok onto Maple story, if you dont know what this is by now you have no good reason being on the internet. If however i must describe this anime come to life MMO i would call it an early Zelda brought to the world of MMO's if Nintendo had a one night fling with the Mistwalker team and had raised there bastard son as a MMORPG. All the classic genre specific mobs and classes are there and offers little in the way of surprises in any way to a seasoned RPG player. Worth the download if only for the music and dawwww.
playability: 5/10 graphics: 7/10 community: 6/10

And now the big boy of the free MMO world. SRO has been established as one of the most adult and mature free MMORPG's of the last five years. Set in the 18th century almost entirely on the Chinese silk road you take one of several traditional roles after achieving the profession level requirements, this means you start off as a generic all rounder capable of pretty much anything you choose. Unlike most other free games SRO has a unique in game monetary system in the form of both traditional money and SILK. Silk is a unique way to negate gold farmers destroying the in game economy as the company itself submits to "gold buying" in an official capacity. By selling silk you gain the ability to acquire uniquely powerful items in game that even the most frantic of gold farmers would be hard pressed to find and impossible to sell on. All in game trade is done by the players themselves, at a set level you gain the ability to set up a stall anywhere you wish and sell your goods at whatever price you wish this results in a unique player based economic twist that can see some real bargains for smart shoppers.
No im not bing rude this is about making yourself a MASSIVE poster fro your wall using only A4 standard size printer paper and a little bit of your time. As always this is a close to free as i can possibly make it so hit the provided link below and find yourself something off Google image search (or if your especially brave something from 4chan) and blow it up as big as you want.
Yep thats right folks i got me "T3h Haloz Bioch" just scroll down to the bottom of the blogg for a flash tastic Halo flash game.
Now i should warn you this is a temporary thing as in a few week we should be getting the long awaited World Of Warcraft Flash game from WTF! for you all to enjoy.
if your not a fan of halo or simply cant wait for your free warcrack then head on over to the WTF! site for a quick blast on the worlds most popular MMORPG for Flash.
In case you missed that horrific display i finally received my invite to the CoD5 (world at war) partially closed BETA testing. As you are aware im a BETA whore and have recently enjoying wasting my time on the WoTLK world of warcraft testing realm(s) and despite the constant stimulation from new content that has sustained me somewhat over the last month or so i grow bored and sadly now that the expansion has one gold and patching is beginning on the live realms the Beta realms will be closing soon, none the less i still have to admit to being a little over excited to be playing in only my second ever XBOX Live BETA (the first being Halo 3 via Crackdown) and there really is nothing quite like the feeling of a new relatively closed as yet unreleased game. Now while i eagerly await my chance to participate and prepare my eardrums for the inevitable assault i will run down the weeks events...
Tue- Beta wed- Beta, publish How Too on Blog Thu- Beta Fri- Beer & Beta Sat- Curry & Beta, Movie Night on Blog Sun- Sleep followed by BETA near future- Beta Beta Beta etc.
1) Start/load game 2) Enter the Batcave /Arkham Asylum 3) Approach the Batcomputer 4) Select the 'cheat code' option 5) enter the code EXACTLY as depicted above
Aww did you think i had forgot about you all? no sorry no such luck peeps but this is the last prezzie this year, but because i care what my readers want I'm posting another comic milestone.
The age of wonder is another Elseworlds novel setting our favorite hero's against an unusual backdrop that is distantly different yet strangely close to the one we know. After all what difference can one man make? well of hes from Krypton and arrives on earth a few (dozen) years too early how would this have effected those around him?
As always get it while you can because if i am asked by the powers that be to remove it then I'm afraid it has to go.
As an old school comic book geek and a lover of free stuff I simply cannot think of a better way to say 5 DAYS TO CHRISTMAS! to all my readers than to give them free things.
So here we have it a free thing (that hopefully wont get me sued) from DC comics there much acclaimed elseworlds novel Superman Red Son, the book is basically about what would have happened to the DC universe if baby Kal-El had landed in soviet Russia instead of corn fed central America and how a simple twist of fate can change not only perspective but the whole face of the universe.
To read this frankly amazing Graphic novel (and believe me this is no comic book) you will need a CDR reader, thankfully I'm also offering a free download for that too so be shure to download that first.
Remember folks all links can (and will) be taken down upon request so please grab this as soon as you can and if you can please do yourself the personal favour of buying this amazing book form somewhere like Amazon.com or even ebay, as the only reason I'm even considering sullying such a masterwork is because of its rareity. mm ok about me well i suppose im just another guy with a computer really. My name is Alan im 30 and live in Northern ireland Im a bit of a warcraft nut but the same could be said for about 80% of most people online between the ages of 18-45 so that realy dosent say much athough i have been dabbling in Final Fantasy XI of late, er...i write a bit too...ok that's a flat out lie...i write a LOT especially for WWW.PSPcrazy.com & WWW.GamingCrazy.net where i have been dubbed simply 'the article god', sure its egotistical but hey its not like i named myself that is it? I have a couple of E-books out ATM but i'll get to those later (about the same time i fix these spelling mistakes) and will eventually post links so that they can be downloaded, i will also be submitting extracts from my latest book when i get round to it sometime when i get a chance... well that it for now, keep your eyes open for some of my trademark rants and leave feedback as and when you can...see ya
